Love at first sight
My first experience with chiropractic was when I was 16 years old. I used to be an extreme sports athlete and had annoying back pain that did not seem to resolve on its own. One visit to a chiropractor fixed my pain instantly! It was a miracle and I was just in awe of how this was even possible.
The harsh reality
Inspired by my own positive experience, in 2007 I started my chiropractic studies at AECC University in England and it became clear pretty soon that although many patients will benefit from chiropractic care, in most cases there are no miracles, no quick fixes, but rather consistent lasting care in combination with home exercises and lifestyle changes for optimal results.
Who is the real hero?
After graduating with a Master's degree from AECC in 2012, I soon realised my initial motives were a bit wrong—I thought I could be the hero who saves people from their suffering. Sometimes I still feel that way, but in so many instances the road towards recovery depends on the person in front of me. People often have fears and barriers that prevent them from healing. My goal is to help break them and guide them towards better health choices combined with a little "tap on the back". But I most enjoy when people take credit for their healing themselves, instead of me. They are the real heroes.
13 years of experience
I have had the privilege to treat many Estonian elite athletes and equip them with tools and tips to help them return to the game as soon as possible. But similarly, I have vast experience helping people with smaller yet equally important daily wins—whether it's helping them put their socks on again in the morning due to back pain, or turning their head comfortably again after a lock-up. In my clinic, every patient is a VIP, independent of their status and age. I enjoy treating children, adults, and elderly patients equally, helping them work toward their personal health goals.
Education & Public Health
I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management from Tallinn University. Beyond my clinic, I'm dedicated to public health education.
I co-founded "Kolme Peaga Biitseps," a health podcast developed with two physical therapists to educate the public about physical activity and recovery. I recently launched my YouTube channel "Martin Heinmets DC" with the same mission: evidence-based health information accessible to everyone.
Outside of work
In my spare time, I enjoy good coffee, reading, riding my motorcycle, and staying physically active—hiking, camping, and hitting the gym.
